WHY brushing your teeth changes the way tea tastes?

Asked by 9doomedtodie (3113points) April 1st, 2010

I think the taste of tea feels better before brushing. If you take tea after brushing the teeth its taste feels bitter.

What is your experience ?

I prefer tea without the minty fresh Pepsodent or whatever the name is. When I drink tea, I make sure I rinse my mouth out, and use a toothbrush with water only to cleanse my pallet.

Well the why answer to your question is becasue you’re changing your taste pallet. Brushing your teeth removes some of the things in your mouth and on your tongue essentially giving you a clean pallet but leaving behind the minty taste.

It is the taste of the toothpaste interfering with the taste of the tea.
