My high school boyfriend’s neighbor’s little yapping dog ran out of the house and bit me on the ass. Left a bruise, but didn’t break skin.

I still have the scar from a bite on the thigh by a neighbourhood dog. I don’t hate dogs, and I’m not afraid of them because of it. The poor thing spent it’s life tied up in the back yard and I simply got too close and personal to it. I bent down to give it a pat and a hug and it bit me. I must have been about 11 years old. I haven’t had any serious problems since.

When I was younger, maybe in elementary school, our dog (a mix of poodle and something else) bit my nose. I was playing with it and was close to its face. Thankfully it wasn’t too bad and I didn’t need stitches. Apparently that dog hates kids.

I have a scar on my thigh from where a little ratdog tried to eat me.
My exes dog bit my face and left teeth mark scars.

I’ve gotten hurt more times than I can count by horse accidents, but the worst two were when I got kicked in the face and when I got thrown into a fence note the editing skills.
My face was fine, just really sore for a few weeks.
My I broke 4 ribs when I hit the fence.

Outside of those… I’ve had broken toes, broken fingers, bite scars and have pretty much bruised everything.

I got bit by my dog, the circumstances you ask… was that I had blood dripping down my hand. Didn’t need a doctor though.

Hang your hed in shame! Next time use the little edit button!~
When I was around 5 or so, I got next to the fence. Our neighbor had a really ornery dog named Duke. It was a German shepherd. I don’t know how it happened, but it bit my face, actually pierced my nose. My mom had no sympathy for me either. “I told you to stay away from that dog!” Yeah, but mom, how did he get me through the fence? I still don’t know the answer to that.

I was once attacked by a mother hawk protecting her nest. She landed on my head and dug in her talons. It hurt like heck plus I had to have a tetanus shot and a round of antibiotics!

I was once bitten by a barracuda whilst scuba diving. I’m still not sure exactly why it bit me, but my guess is that my spare regulator was hanging down by my calf instead of clipped in place (mine always seems to come loose). The metal on the regulator must have given off a shine like that of a fish’s scales, and sparked the interest of the barracuda. It bit quickly, realized I wasn’t what it wanted, and swam off. It was still one of the most frightening experiences of my life (I thought it was a shark at first).

Smokey the dog bit me on the back of my right calf. Maybe it was more a nip, rather. Skin didn’t break, IIRC. I was 4. I probably pestered her for a fraction too long.

My cat Annie scratched me when I was around 5. That was the one and only time I’ve been hurt by an animal, though as kid I had a fear of dogs, especially big ones. None of them ever hurt me, though, I was just afraid they would.

This guy a dated once, he was a real animal. He bit me.

@rangerr You horse riding gals are tough little cookies, years ago my girlfriend at the time was riding her horse on the beach, it stumbled & threw her off headfirst into the sand. She jumped up dusted herself down & jumped right back on.I was impressed because at that speed if it had been me i’d have probably screamed like a 10 year old girl.

ucme's avatar

@Trillian Somehow I feel cleansed now, cheers.

slick44's avatar

@Trillian .. I am sorry for what happend to you, but when i read it, I cracked up lol

rangerr's avatar

@ucme I got thrown the other week and fractured my ankle. I had to jump back up and chase the horse down. I jumped on and went on with practice. Cowgirls don’t cry.

I’ve been bitten by the following: various parrots, dogs, snakes, a sick possum, a bobcat (he was just playing), a ferret, and lizards (they make great earrings).

I asked a boy if I could pet his dog when I was walking to school. It jumped up and clamped its jaws down on my arm. Through 4 layers of clothing it still managed to bruise and break the skin.

A few months later I was walking home from school and when I passed by the house where the boy & his dog lived, the dog ran out the front door, chased me down the street and mauled me. I still have the scars.

That all happened in 4th grade.
Needless to say I’m more of a cat person.

ucme's avatar

@rangerr Yeah & you have the bruises to prove it.Just to add me & horses, not a pretty sight, whenever they even think about breaking into a trot my arse smacks off it’s back & I look a complete tit.Leave it to those who know, better that way for the horse anyway.

rangerr's avatar

@ucme I’ve had a group of guys come out to the ranch because they were convinced that riding a horse was the sissiest thing ever. I put one of them on our fastest horse and smacked it’s butt with a crop. They quickly took back their “sissy” comment.

They’re not used to having that much power & grace between their legs, bless.

jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities's avatar

Oooh, I forgot, I was also bitten on the nose by a goose. All I was trying to do was give him some bread. Jerk.

ucme's avatar

@jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities They can be intimidating when surrounded by them.Especially the canadians, rather unlike the nation.

Recently one of my rats bit me because I think I scared her.
I’ve owned her for a year and she has never hurt me, so I wasn’t too upset, but it REALLY hurt. );

Bitten by several non-venomous snakes & a tarantula, accidental but still painful scratches handling full grown iguanas (pets, not attacks). Bitten by a dog as a child.

I was like 5 years old, I was such a scared little girl, and we had a big patio where we kept a turtle, I was feeding it and got distratcted and it bit me, I scream and cry so loud that everybody came looking for me just to discover that I was barely bit I didn’t even bleed!

We had this huge mutt of a dog when I was a kid. She was about the size of a great dane. One day she was chewing on something and when I tried to take it from her, she clamped down on my arm. Didn’t break the skin, but left impressions in my skin that could be seen for an hour or so. I ran around the neighborhood trying to show them off before they faded. My parents gave me the “you know better” talk.

I’ve been bitten a few times by parrots, hamsters, and gerbils.

My kids have better animal injury stories than I do. My son was bitten by a garter snake when he was two. It wrapped itself around his leg and latched on. We had to pry its mouth open, and the whole time my kid just stared at it. Once we got the snake detached, blood started dribbling down my son’s leg. He didn’t even cry. The pediatrician got a good laugh out of it.

Last summer our daughter was swimming at the beach and got stung several times by a jelly fish. She just started screaming bloody murder and made a crazy run back to shore. She was beside herself from the pain, crying and yelling until the lifeguard ran over with his spray bottle of vinegar. She was stung in six places, but the vinegar helped very quickly. I love that kid because only ten minutes later, she was back in the water. I think I’d never go near the ocean again.

@SuperMouse That is hard core!

My cat sometimes bites my toes. It hurts, but I get her back when I kick her in the head out of reflex/surprise.

I was terrorized by a flock of chickens when I was 7 years old, and geese always scare me at the park.

WolfFang's avatar

Yes I remember a darned billy goat at the LA county fair ran and butted me when I was like 7 years old. He was mad because I was giving the other goats some feed and I left him out. Also my neighbors crazy, giant rottweiler chased me and tackled me. God i thought i was going to die, but it was just having fun

faye's avatar

I was bitten on the finger by a wee mousie I had just saved from my cat. I don’t know if my feelings were hurt worse than my finger or not! Some blood, no tetanus shot, farm girl.

aprilsimnel's avatar

@faye -Oh! The poor mouse baby was skeered!

cazzie's avatar

Oh, yeah… I caught a field mouse in the winter once with my hands and it bit me and drew blood… ‘no tetanus shot, farm girl!’ yea!
And at a zoo, I got my fingers pinched between a buffalo’s horns and a fence. The buffalo apparently didn’t want his head touched…. ooops.

Two times.

The first time I was about 11. My next-door neighbor had this big dog that I didn’t like and wasn’t the best behaving in the world. So, I was going in through their back door when he just started chasing after me. I ran out into the backyard and he caught up to me in a couple of seconds and bit at my right leg. I managed to get away and run home. The dog made a gash about the size of a quarter and it was bleeding pretty bad. My dad took me to the hospital and they stuck a shot in it which hurt worse than when the dog actually bit me. Although, I think I was in shock at the time of the bite, so I might not have felt it as much as I should have. A couple weeks later they put the dog down. I was terrified of dogs for a few years after the incident and I now have no fear of them. I still, and always will, have that scar on my leg.

The second time was a couple months ago. We had taking in this stray cat, because it had a hurt leg and kept it in the garage (plus it was very cold out). After a week he seemed to be healing and was up and about. So, on my way back into the house he was really trying to get in to be warm. I picked him up to move him over so I could get in real quick. He came back, jumped up and attacked my left leg. I yelled at him, shook him off, and went inside. He sunk a couple of his teeth into my skin and were bleeding pretty bad. Luckily we had gotten his shots done a few days ago, so I wasn’t worried about any diseases or anything. It wasn’t bad enough to go to the hospital for and just slapped on a few bandages. Afterwards I went outside and opened the garage door and hoped he would just leave. He did and I still see him roaming around the neighborhood to this day. I think he is better off outside anyhow.

So that’s it. Two stories, one on each leg. Thanks for reading!

My son was attacked by deer – twice. The first time, we were visiting a state park, and he was feeding the deer from an approved source, purchased on the site. He held the bag in one hand and held the food out in the other hand. The deer went right for the bag, which involved knocking my son down and trampling him. He was bruised and scratched.

The second time, we were hiking. We passed some boys who were teasing a deer they saw on the trail, and in trying to get away, it jumped right up on my son’s back with it’s front hooves, and then trampled him as it ran off, leaving hoof marks all the way down his back.

He is not and never was afraid of deer.
