Reality TV Can it teach - or plain entertainment?
Survivor, Amazing RACE, Apprentice, Kendra, Kardashians, Big Brother…..So Many to choose from, SYTYCD, Idol, Dancing with the Stars, I consider talent contests.
I adore most of these…...Amazing Race for the adventure, Apprentice – I want to learn more business skills and I love to see the nastiness in Survivor.
What do you think?? Which one rocks your world??
I think you can learn some common sense, relationship skills in Amazing Race. Maybe some dancing technique in the dance-offs.

Project Runway! I love watching people create art.
I liked Wife Swap, you know where the wife goes to a new home and experiences all the issues there. I find it interesting how two people carve a life for themselves and when observed by a stranger their lives seem bizarre. Plus they learn from each other.
The Biggest Loser. Aside from the incredibly over dramatic way they end the show, it is imformative and demonstrates fully how quickly a body can get out of hand and how much hard work it takes to reel it back in, but that it can be done.
Fortunately, I am not, nor have I ever been in their boats, but I am interested in human nutrition. Food Revolution is also pretty good after two weeks. And, it comes on right after guilty pleasure, Wife Swap.
BBC America’s You Are What You Eat ranks up there, too. There is a recurring theme.
Simon Cowell and the X factor.
I love the initial shows watching the people who ‘think’ they can sing, then get so annoyed when the judges say NO, you can’t sing.
Some of the reactions are as hilarious as the singing itself!
I enjoy watching America’s Got Talent every summer. The initial auditions are the funniest, because there’s the crazies there.
It can teach one what not to do if they treasure their dignity.
It depends on the show. Biggest Loser or You Are What You Eat are reality shows that have value to teach, but most are for sheer entertainment value.
