I was browsing for political sites and came upon this one, and was wondering is this for the "kooky" or is it legitimate?

Asked by earthduzt (3243points) April 5th, 2010

I was bored and was just looking up political “stuff” and I came upon this website infowars.com. I was reading some of the articles and some of it sounds kind of scary if some of this stuff is happening. I’m wondering if this site is legit or is it mainly for paranoid people? Will the govt track my IP if I visit this site? Seems like this guy is selling a whole bunch of “stuff” could this actually be his agenda? Should I read on or steer clear? Thanks!

Looks like a lot of paranoid wingnut crapola to me.

@dpworkin ok good, thats what I figured, kind of fun reading though…Ill just consider it like the Enquirer for conspiracy people.

My opinion is that this website is this guy’s opinion on stuff. It’s not news. It’s not unbiased and certainly not to be taken seriously.

For a better laugh, from people who actually intend to be funny, try reading The Onion.

@cazzie oh that’s a good site, thank you!

Ohhhhhh shit…. Prison Planet after a name change. It is so batshit crazy they had to change their URL. The site has been a joke for a long time. What a fucking train-wreck.

I tend to discount most, if not all, “news” sources who rely upon overuse of the word “crisis” (and words of like import) in all of their “news reporting”.

Which is not to say that every bit of every story is nonsense or untrue. Just keep in mind the hyperbole, and check the facts.

Hint:
They are selling “survival seeds”, handgun training for “What’s Coming”, “You Will Be Feared!” self defense system, gold, the “Crisis Cooker” and “How to Survive Martial Law in America”

Read Daily Kos. It’s much funnier.

I found infowars.com a long time ago. I spent quite a bit of time tooling around the site as I found it intriguing. They are serious about what they are talking about, but you have to take what they say with a grain of sand. Or, many grains of sand.

There are always people who think, “this is the end” and they are one of them. But that doesn’t mean that every thing they say is nuts. That being said, it would be exhausting to try to fact check everything they say.

Things are never as good as people say and they are also never as bad (usually).
