If you know of a service that you, a friend, or family member used that they were happy with?
Any advice on pitfalls to watch out for?
About how much it cost overall?
How long it “all” took.
And, just anything else you think would be important for someone to know that is seekeing a surrogate to have a child.
Thanks ahead of time.

I wish I had answers for you, but I have a feeling you are embarking on a grand adventure! Good luck in your quest!
There are some wonderful organisations out there.
I had looked into becoming a surrogate once when I was younger. I always thought that it was something I’d like to do for someone in the future, because I firmly believe no one should be forbidden the chance to be a parent solely because their biology doesn’t allow it.
The one I looked into was Circle Surrogacy and they seemed just wonderful.
Unfortunately for me, I didn’t pass the screening process due to postpartum complications after having my son.
My best wishes to you and yours. ^_^
I don’t know anyone who used a surrogate but some time ago I did some research into it through a race and class lens (white women using poor women of color – it’s a global surrogacy issue).
Be careful. Know case and black letter law in your state. Some courts will no longer enforce these contracts. Birth mothers are winning court battles.
@thriftymaid
It may be easier to win the suit (almost guaranteed, I would think) if one uses one’s own eggs for the surrogacy.
@Seek_Kolinahr There is a case in MI where the surrogate mother has been able to keep the babies (twins, they are around 5 month snow I think). MI has no laws really protecting the biological parents, and it is illegal to pay someone to be a surrogate in that state. NY is also a difficult state for surrogacy from what I understand, which I find very surprising.
@Seek_Kolinahr It depends on the state. To make a contract for surrogate motherhood is a felony in at least one state, and other states are attempting similar legislation. Even when there is no statute, juries are becoming more sympathetic to the birth mother. This is why my advice was to “be careful.”
