www.kayak.com is the best!! Searches ALL airlines, all ticket discounters, etc. Awesome site.

I’m with Valhalla30 on this one. I always start with Kayak. They also have a mobile version.

The cheapest airfare is free. Free airfare is available from connected friends, friends with airplanes or chartered planes, certain employers including the military, volunteering to give up your reservation on an overbooked flight, contests, favors, people with transferable tickets they can’t use, etc.
