Ladies: what's the best foundation that is extremely sheer and natural?

Asked by ftp901 (1318points) April 10th, 2010

I hardly ever wear makeup but would like to find a very light, very sheer and natural looking foundation (or maybe a tinted moisturizer?). I have relatively clear skin but would like something very sheer just to even it out a bit but still looks completely natural.

I’ve bought some in the past but always find them to be too thick, clumpy, powdery & generally fake/makeup looking.

I have pale, caucasian skin.

Please give details like the specific brand & product name.

I use Clinique. I have very pale skin and you can get a powder or the liquid kind. I have the liquid and it works very well for me. I also have Clinique moisturizer for my face and eyes and it leaves my skin super smooth for me. Hope that helps. And remeber, everyone has different kinds of skin and their skin reacts to different kinds of makeup so what might work best for me might not work best for you.

I don’t like the liquid foundations, too hard to apply look streaky.

I love and have been using L’oreal light enhancing creme foundation for years.
Applied with a sponge applicator it goes on as sheer as you wish. I then use a touch of cover girl minerals loose powder to buff out things.

Looks very natural and lasts a long time.

I’ve used Maybelline mineral powder for a long time. Love it.

CoverGirl makes a pretty good tinted moisturizer. I don’t use it often, only if I’m on vacation or something and don’t want to spend a lot of time on makeup. I brush some powder on after I use it, just so it doesn’t look too oily.

The best foundation I’ve ever used was Clinique. It was amazing. Unfortunately, it’s a little pricey for me, so I only bought it the one time. I wish I could buy it all the time! It was very light and natural, didn’t feel cakey or heavy on my skin, and it blended well. As @Coloma said, apply with a makeup sponge, then brush on a light powder.

If you think you just might not be a liquid foundation kind of girl, L’Oreal makes a great line of mineral powder makeup that I love. It is also light and blends great, and if you don’t like the heaviness that sometimes comes with liquid foundation, you should definitely try this stuff out.

I tried Maybelline’s Dream Satin Liquid, applied thinly. It was natural and smoothed on beautifully. Less is more, apply sparingly and you will see a natural, healthy look.

I love Almay’s Line Smoothing Makeup, but it’s getting a little hard to find. It’s light and moisturizing and doesn’t make me feel like I’m wearing makeup. It just makes me look like I have nice skin.

I like L’Oreal foundation, I normally use the visable lift one.

If you’re not concerned about the price, you should definitely consider trying Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer. Ah, I love it. It gives just the right amount of coverage, evening out your skin tone without looking like you’re wearing any makeup at all. It has spf 20, and is oil free. It’s really easy to apply, too. You can find it at Sephora.

I’m with @jOey I also use ID rare minerals, the complete line. it’s not liquid and doesn’t clog pores and feels like nothing

If you are interested, just go into their store, the women who work there will show you how to apply the perfect shade for your skin tone. They have great starter kits with brushes.
