I am not asking this question from a materialistic point of view, but do you ever feel awful if you have overused your car and "tired it out"?

Most of you will probably tell me that you don’t attach value to material objects, but what I mean is, do you ever feel for your car if it has been under extreme strain? I had that feeling the other day after it had been used to a great extent for long trips. Is it too weird to feel like that?

I don’t give a personality to appliances & machines. I’d just see it gets the maintainance it needs.
Sometimes, but I know that long trips aren’t as hard on a car as in-town driving. Give it some love and pampering. Change the oil, check the plugs, maybe give it a wash. Even if it doesn’t feel better, you will.
I dont think my jeep has feelings, but sometimes I if Ive driven it over really rough terrain, I worry that Ill breake the suspension, or pop a tire. I take good care of my things.
Nah. Yeah, it’s kind of weird.
I have moved up to a car that is completely capable of meeting my needs, and I have a pre-paid maintenance program to keep it healthy.
I’ve always driven the beaters. Its the last stop before the junkyard around here. So after a busy day of errands I’m left with this feeling it may just fall apart. Absolutely I get nervous haha!
Some of my vehicles have personalities and I treat them gently. Helga is a 1961 M-B 190D with over 600,000 miles and still looks and drives like new. Otto is a 1938 Harley-Davidson ULH in original condition. My grandfathers 1937 Packard, 60,000 miles, is rarely driven and treated like a baby. My partners Smart for Two recieves similar doting attention. The farm vehicles aren’t assigned names or personalities, but we are fanatical about vehicle maintenance. Most of our farm equipment is over 40 years old and do their jobs perfectly. The equipment and vehicles are used for their intended purposes; the idea of intentionally abusing a vehicle is repugnant to me. I have a ‘72 M-B 220D that is a sort of winter “beater”, but even that recieves regular maintenance (rust is getting the upper hand though).
