What are some good shows that talk about maths?

Asked by weeeee (62points) April 12th, 2010

The BBC has “The Story of Maths.” Apart from that there isn’t much and as well to learning the history of maths and a basic understanding into most topics, I want to get a better understanding of maths.

My all-time favorite is “School House Rock” http://www.schoolhouserock.tv/ They have a great video on multiplication called “Multiplication Rock.” The videos teach with music and while targeted toward children, anyone can learn from them & enjoy the catchy tunes & 1970’s grooviness – smiles!

More info:
“Schoolhouse Rock! – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You can still buy the DVDs and I’m sure you can see at least some of them on youtube.

This guy (Steven Stroganz) is a prof. of applied math at Cornell U. and has a fascinating blog about math (this one is on calculus and uses Michael Jordan as an example).

I have resisted mentioning this, but since the opportunity presents itself, I have a math Web site at high school level at Mathed.org
