You can’t safely lose that much weight in less than 3 months. You can safely lose 1–2 lbs a week. This means you can safely lose 12 lbs., actually 12–24 but 24 is pushing it. Probably more towards the former.

To lose the weight you should do an hour of cardio a day b/c a new study says that really the 20–30 minutes isn’t enough. And you should do some weight lifting b/c muscles burn fat. To top it off you need to it appropriate portions of healthy foods (not starve yourself either).

I’ve been following this diet and have been very pleased with results and have not been hungry. This diet is more about eating properly than it is about cutting out all sorts of foods. There might be a cost to the material but I think most if the info is free and you can get the books if you want to. It’s been really great for me and I feel so much better. i think I lost about 15 pounds in the first month and keep it off using the diet.

Remember . It’s calories in – calories burned. you wan tto lose 25 pounds and one pound of fat is ~3500 so that means you want to have a deficit of 90000 calories in about 80 days. That is a deficit of 1100 calories per day. Very doable.
You can exercise vigorously for an hour and knock off 350 calories and you can cut back on what you usually eat by 800 calories.. Sure, there are second order effects but by far the biggest is exercise and reduced intake. Don’t be discouraged if things don’t change right away. You are in it for he long haul.
Look at the USDA’s mypyriamid.gov site and track your intake, exercise and progress. It is great.
Start your journey today. Good Luck.

There is much truth in the idea that people usually lose weight if they eat more frequent, smaller meals. Right away you should overhaul your thinking though and focus on becoming a smaller, fitter you, and less on achieving a specific weight.

Start out by writing down everything you eat, drinking lots of water, limiting or banning soft drinks all together, and limiting caffeine intake. Also, if you smoke quit today.

Figure out what your target heart rate is and start out by doing low-impact exercise
such as walking that gets you in that range and keep it there for 30 minutes each day. As your body rediscovers its muscle memory you will become more energetic and flexible, and can then increase the intensity without injuring yourself.

As you stated, you didn’t get to this weight overnight, and losing it will also be a process. Since you are starting your regimen in the spring, there are lots of others doing the same exact thing, it shouldn’t be too hard to find a work-out buddy to help keep you motivated. Or, if you have a dog or know a friend whose dog doesn’t get much exercise, they also make wonderful exercise companions.

Good luck, and remember – any weight you lose will make a tremendous difference on the workload your heart and joints have to endure…. so keep at it and don’t become too consumed with a specific weight number. Your true goal should be becoming healthier.

Eat small healthy meals and with regularity. And get jogging, or at least walking. 5k at least three times each week.

My advice is to use periods at the end our your sentences, capitalize the first word of your sentences, capitalize the first person subjective pronoun, and forget about ellipses for now.

@stump that’s not particularly helpful.

I don’t have much to say beyond endorsing @mcbealer‘s advice, particularly on grazing (more meals, but smaller) as opposed to the traditional 3 large meals (I’ve been doing this for a while).

Also: jumping into an intense exercise regimen all of a sudden can burn you out easily (motivation-wise), to the point where you end up giving up or losing your resolve a few weeks in…I would advise starting with a commitment to, say, a few minutes every day before or after breakfast of brisk walking. It’s really nice to walk out and about in the mornings when it’s quieter, and it feels very energizing to know the first thing you did in the morning was something virtuous like exercise. ;)

Find friends to exercise with. It’s easier to stay committed and easier to push yourself to continue exercising, or exercise more, when there are people that can simultaneously encourage and guilt-trip you.

Try all raw food diet not sayin meats but veggies & fruit , oatmeal with raisens, 1–2% milk or skim, have almonds/baby carrots on hand as snack with you always, but don’t eat almonds excessively just 5 to 7 , they give energy.

There’s no reason you can’t safely drop that amount of weight in four months. Start by cutting out sodas, juices, flavored waters and bottle drinks. Just your first month of cutting down sugar from liquids should drop you at least 10lbs. If you can up the amount of plain water you drink while you do this then you’ll notice most things starting to taste too sweet or too salty. You’ll start to lose the cravings for junk snacks in favor of real food snacks and that along with eating half of what you first think you want will get you the rest of the way.

Drink a glass of water when you first wake up and start getting ready for your day. This will prime you tummy for any food you put in and also give you a better gauge of how hungry you are. Same thing before lunch and dinner, drink a glass of water and try to also be sipping some during the day.

start slow and deliberate. you have to totally change your mind about how and when to eat. some people think if you don’t eat at all or just eat carrots and celery, the weight will come off. NO NO NO—you have to eat, but you have to eat the RIGHT things and exercise. there is no quick way to this goal. it takes time. stay away from fad-dieting.

YOUR HINT: eat what is the most closest to fresh and not in a box or a package or a vending machine. BROIL, GRILL, BOIL, BAKE. cut out salt and sauces. no candy bars. no chips. no juices like gatorade or vitamin water, but orange juice or whatever juice that is closest to the natural fruit if you must have juice. fresh vegetables. fresh fruit. no cheese. leave the fried food alone for the folks who just cant get a clue.

none of the above is easy to do, but you have to go there. AND you have to exercise.

the only answer to weight loss IS: eating right and exercising. there is no quick way.

If you’re looking to clarify things, this is not the place. You’re obviously getting now 17 different viewpoints, probably even more later. You might want to find a certified nutritionist or at least a personal trainer to help you form a cohesive plan.

Cut 80% of your carbs except for low-glycemic carbs such as peas and lentils. You need proteins and fat otherwise hunger could make you very miserable.
