All I think about is food and eating lol! It’s not really funny but whatever. I feel like I should always be consuming something. What gives?

When you find out LET ME KNOW!!! I am with you on this one…I wonder if it’s trying to fill some void or distract us….
Is this a new thing? I’ve been on medications that had the side effect of carb cravings. It made me feel I was losing my mind.
@netgrrl Fairly new, but I’m not on any meds.
Everybody has obsessive thoughts at some point. Many are sex related.
There are many solutions for that, it might be that you’re in a good mood or that your stomach get used to large amounts of food, you could try to eat bubblegum instead!
I get that way. I think when im stressed, or bored.
Heck that’s all i’m able to think about right now too.Of course I’m nursing right now so that is probably the cause but still doesn’t do me any good healthwise. I’m trying to remember to drink a glass of water when I become obsessed to see if that helps but have a hard time remembering it. The bad thing about the obsessive food thoughts is that for me they usually involve junk food. Ick!
Also agree with @slick44 I think it may be a stress related behavior. Are you unusually stressed?
Habit. Once you enjoy it you’ll do it again and again. Stop for some time and it probably will disappear. I’ve tried this with daily snacking habit and it works so well.
I think when i start thinking about eating when im not hungry, i have to find somthing more productive to take its place, then im fine.
Can you identify what void you are trying to fill?
Is there any possibility that you are either pregnant or malnourished in some way? When I am anemic, I crave a lot of steak (which I generally don’t like all that much).
I would suggest relaxing your mind. Take a few deep breathes and count to ten, then busy your hands.
It may be a hormonal imbalance.
You might want to get your estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and thyroid stimulating hormone levels checked. Just request blood tests for these from your doctor.
I had the same kind of constant hunger, because these particular hormone levels were low. Once I got them back up to normal levels, the hunger went away.
Barring any medical issues, you may want to keep a glass of water by you. Every time you feel like eating something, drink water instead.
it may be the weed, my love…...I love tasting…..stuff. be strong…and just say no…to food.
@Facade Get those hormones and iron levels fixed, and I bet you’ll be back to normal. Good luck!
@augustlan I was going to get my hormones in check but the treatments I want are expensive, and my anemia isn’t iron based. (what kind of anemia is it?) The doctors don’t know.
@Facade Not iron based? Weird. Maybe you should PM shilolo.
I’m uninterested in doctors, but thanks anyway.
@Facade I know what it feels like to not like doctors. I went years without seeing one, for two reasons. One, because I was scared (I felt fine, so why go), and two, I didn’t have insurance. In 2007, I had symptoms that forced me to see a doctor, but I could have saved myself a lot of pain and fear by going sooner….but I digress…
If you feel that your hormones are out of balance, there are supplements (available over the counter at the health food store), that may help you. However they will not replace the hormones in your body, they can just naturally help your body make and use the ones that are already there.
Soy is good for estrogen function, Kelp is good for thyroid function, Wild Yam is good for Progesterone function.
I am not a doctor, and I am not aware of your age or medical history, but there is a lot of good information on line about how to naturally balance your hormones.
Also, Dr. Christiane Northrup’s website provided me with a lot of good information when I was experiencing PMDD.
All the best to you.
I would also consider that you may be diabetic. You belong to a high risk group and one of the signs of diabetes is excessive hunger or thirst often even after eating. Your chewing whole packs of gum may be a sugar craving. I would get your blood checked for insulin levels just to be safe. Diabetes can be deadly.
Type 1 Diabetes
* Frequent urination
* Unusual thirst
* Extreme hunger
* Unusual weight loss
* Extreme fatigue and Irritability
@SeventhSense I’ve had my blood sugar checked in the past because of other symptoms. It was fine.
@Facade
That’s good. You can’t be too safe.
