Anyone know any good technical forums?

Asked by nicky (210points) April 14th, 2010

I am a computer science major and as a move into my junior year the necessity to talk to people about technical concepts and problems is becoming more important. My question is this: Does anyone know of some good forums (like fluther) to join that are a little more technically oriented? (like more focused on programming and related fields)

If you are working with Microsoft products, the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) and Technet forums are useful.

You might find Young Coders Forum interesting and fun. It’s target is the next generation of Computer gurus, and it has a full range of forums for various languages and platforms.

Welcome to Fluther, BTW.

You can also try the forums on the free site for The Tech Support Guy.

It’s a really large stable community which has been around for quite a while and gotten excellent reviews. Lots of helpful folks there.

Stackoverflow has been a really helpful one for me, but the amount of interesting discussion has dropped a lot with the site’s increasing popularity. Now it’s mostly just stupid “fix my program for me” questions, but there is still a load of useful info on SO.
