I’m sure this isn’t about my subconscious wanting me to pop out some infants.
But I’m having reoccurring dreams about children that I’ve put up for adoption. I haven’t ever been pregnant, so these are all “dream” children that I’ve supposedly had. But I’ve been having dreams where I’m searching for these children (one per dream, thankyou) and rarely find them. Its starting to depress me, really. How sad could that be? It really stresses me while I’m asleep.
One of the last dreams I had, I was on a school buss, basically harassing the children about their parents…. asking them if they were sure that they literally came out of their mother.
But the very last was about a fifteen year old that was my daughter, I guess. We went to the Zoo, had a good time, etc. But this is literally impossible. I’m only 21.
I’m just really tired of these dreams happening over and over. Most of the information I’m finding online about dreaming of children is about fertility and blah blah blah – but this really isn’t the issue here. I’m interested in getting my usual serial killing dreams back. I’m not enjoying what a mental strain these dream children are putting on my psyche.

Read something light before going to sleep.
Do you know anyone who has put children of theirs up for adoption, or who have adopted children? Have you seen any films about it? Heard stories that made an impression?
I’d just wonder where the heck this dream theme came from. I know it wouldn’t be the sort of thing I’d dream about, because I can hardly even imagine what it would be like. I know nothing about what procedures would be involved. There is no concrete representation of “putting kids up for abortion” anywhere in my head.
But apparently there is one in yours. Where did you get it? Or did you just dream it up?
The answer might help a lot in understanding why you’re dreaming about this.
@Fyrius Absolutely no idea. No one I know is adopted or has been abandoned, lost, or any kind of kidnapped. Its ridiculous. But it really does make me tense and stress while I’m asleep, you know what I mean? Isn’t this crazy, though?
It’s weird, yeah.
Well, besides trying to understand it or waiting for it to blow over, I wouldn’t know what to do with it.
@meagan Has someone you were close to or looked up to dumped something on you recently?
@Adirondackwannabe I suppose not. I’m not particularly close to anyone, and I certainly don’t look up to anyone.
Perhaps this could be representative of you searching for your true self or true identity.
There is one type of dream interpretation which theorizes that each of the inhabitants of your dreams represent a part of yourself in disguised form.
But the human mind is so infinitely complex, who knows how accurate that is.
But, just a thought.
Maybe you have abandoned your inner child.
Zoo, school bus… these are childish things. Have you been stressed or very busy lately with nonchildish things?
@jfos I’ve never been a childish kind of person. I don’t crave those kinds of things, even when I have free time. So.. I dunno.
@meagan Maybe it comes back to the connection or abandonment concepts? I’ve got a very tight family, and my dreams often go towards letting them down, not about giving something up. Just a thought.
@Adirondackwannabe Nah. I’m an only child that enjoys the space. I’d much rather everyone else abandon me than be forced to have them around :P seriously.
I’m starting to think that maybe I’m just randomly dreaming this. I don’t really like children or anything. Theres no reason for me to psychologically have this dream.
@meagan Could be the inner child thing. Do something fun. Get caught up in something totally enjoyable.
@meagan You said the dreams were stressing you. Maybe you need something refreshing to get your head straight. Wack a few guys or something.
Been watching “Juno” lately?
@meagan Are you facing some major chioces in your life?
@meagan I guess I don’t have a clue what the dreams mean. I kind of like to dabble in the physic mumbo jumbo, but I’m no expert. You could try some of the google sites if you want to go further. They (your dreams) are different.
Dreams of birth are often equated to goals or aspirations in waking life. Perhaps you have forsaken something in your waking life that needed nurturing.
@meagan There shouldn’t be a “need to do something fun.” Just enjoy yourself!
Be rational. It’s only a dream after all. Soon or later you’re going to forget about it. The repetition/continuation of your dream could be because you keep thinking about it(especially before you’re going to sleep).
Dream children can be said to represent your ideas, thought to which you gave birth. It isn’t a child per se, it’s a brain child. What else is going on in your life from a creative standpoint? Have you given up anything of yourself that you wish you had not?
Dreaming finding something desperately but it dissapears, means there is something you are looking for deeply in your heart but you are hardly to get it. If I am not wrong you may be a quite ambitious woman but you are not sure what your life will be in the future. You have some desires that you need to fulfill but many times failed or vague.
I am also guessing that in your more mature age you will work up with something related to children.
In dream symbolism, you are the 15 yr old kid. You are searching for your old self.
The zoo is your neighborhood. The bus is actually a dolphin. The other kids are actually tomato plants, and their parents are sausages.
Either you are hungry, or you have some fucked up dreams.
