Which is right: Catsup or Ketchup?
Is one more proper than the other? Is one older than the other? Which one do you use?

Both are fine. You can buy either at the grocery store.
Neither, here it is “Tomato Sauce”.
There is no right or wrong; it is all a matter of what you believe.
Purty red stuff that tastes real gooood! ;)ketchup
I think “catsup” is the older spelling. I say “ketchup,” and that’s how it’s spelled everywhere I’ve lived (Northeast and Midwest US). When I see the word “catsup” it irritates me…because I want to pronounce it cat-sup, which sounds a little icky.
@DarkScribe I’ve never heard that before! Where do you live? “Tomato sauce,” where I live, is interchangeable with “marinara sauce” and “spaghetti sauce” and definitely doesn’t mean ketchup!
Either one is fine but ketchup seems to be prevalent.
Waltz that you’re asking, @janbb? That’s so square. Reelly.
How could you twist my words so, you hora-ble man!
@janbb what’s all the hula-balloo about, anyway? It takes two to tango, and I’m not one of those. Don’t try to put me in a box step.
Wanna start a rhumba? (I swear @gailcalled – you must have a nose for pun wars!)
@janbb: Better than a nose with a punim wart.
Neither but would you happen to have some Grey Poupon ?
Both are laced with corn syrup. Eat a tomato.
Mustard is better.

Sorry, the only thing for French Fries is ketchup!
@janbb: Sneaking French fries when my back is turned? Lucky you.
Well, catsup is the only one with real cats.
Yeah, but ketchup is made from sailboats! (I’ll just sloop off after that remark.)
@janbb
“I’ll just sloop off after that remark.”
That’s a hull of a thing to say. It would keel me to see you go.
Knock Knock!
Who’s there?
Ketchup.
Ketchup who?
Ketchup to me and I will tell you.
@janbb
I accept that we must port, but the heartless caprice of the fates anchors me so. :-(
Yawl have a good evening. Keel me before I continue in this vane.
