Best reply to job scam?

Asked by BluRhino (1401points) April 19th, 2010

In searching for jobs, especially on Craigslist, I keep getting this reply:

Hello
I will like to know if you can get this work done for me, I have 7 Pentium M HP laptops, . Below is a list of work needed to be done on each Pc.

1 Format Hard Drive
2 Install Win Xp with Service Pack 3
3 Install Microsoft Office Package
4 AVG Virus Software
5 Adobe Acrobat Reader
6 diagnose Hardware. Hard drive, video card, processor and what not.

Get back to me with your total cost for the service

I await your urgent response.

Best regards,

Joseph

Now, we all know this is a scam. What would be a good reply to let these deadbeats know we are on to them?

Send the computers to this PO Box, and I will get to them as soon as I can. Please include $3,000. for each computer. I will pay the return postage. I will only accept cash, no checks, cashier’s checks, credit cards or money orders.

Actually, I believe that these people are just reaping email addresses, so it’s best not to reply at all.

I’d just report it to Craig’s List and not reply directly at all. Who knows what they’d do with your email address.

I hear there’s a lot of money rolling around Nigeria these days, perhaps they haven’t heard of it?

Don’t worry I’ll do it as soon as I can. Let him impatiently waits for your never-coming work.

Netgrrl has it.

These guys know that a certain percentage of people are on to them and those aren’t the ones they care about.

They are interested in the small percentage of clueless people. That’s all. Letting them know you’re on to them does absolutely nothing but waste time and create more spam in your inbox.

Report, delete, DO NOT REPLY.
