I can’t narrow it down to one song, and I want to get the right one. I saw a Solicitor yesterday as I am writing my will. I’m going back on Friday and so I need to decide what song I would like.
Really, it is something I never thought of.
What are your thoughts?

Zurfled Pulaxinzks (2nd movement) – Written by the great inter-galactic composer Freznod Beltrixks in Earth year 2062.
Birds and Ships – written by Billy Bragg, performed by Wilco and Natalie Merchant
Nothing Good about Goodbye. Hinder
@JeffVader Good song, don’t think your ‘guests’ would be to keen though.
I don’t think it is my decision. I won’t be around to know what my funeral is like, so it is up to those who will be. That said though, I think Portals of Light by Falconer is a great one, even though I don’t agree with its interpretation of death on a philosophical level. I also like In Loving Memory by Alter Bridge, but I think I would settle on Tarja Turunen’s Oasis. It has no particular message or theme, and it would just allow people to focus on their own thoughts and memories.
On a lighter note, maybe Raise Hell in Heaven by Lordi?
@Sophief Haha, no you’re probably right…. but it does go well with a cremation I think :)
@JeffVader Yea guess so. Cremation is what I’m having. I’d never even thought of a song, until she mentioned it.
@Sophief No…. I dont really think it occures to anyone until they’re asked. I figured I’d have done my bit by dying.
I had the weirdest dream the other day where I was given a Viking funeral and the song in the background was I’m On A Boat.
I wonder what that means…
@JeffVader Well I thought it would of occured to me!. So much to think about, just to die.
@Sophief There’s no rest for the wicked as they say :)
My Way of course.
“Yes, there were times, I’m sure you knew,
When I bit off, more than I could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up, and spit it out.
I faced it all, and I stood tall,
and did it my way.”
Well…..I don’t want a funeral ;)
Rock n Roll Dreams Come Through by Meat Loaf
A little while ago I looked into the possability of being exploded…... but there are no facilities :(
@JeffVader _Why don’t you get baked into a meatloaf?That’s my plan.lol
Anything by Claude Debussy.
@lucillelucillelucille Thats a wonderful idea…... then I could be served up at the wake :) Everyone could have a slice!
@JeffVader -Yes! I was thinking the same thing! :)
This has been asked a few times before..
Most of the funerals I’ve been to more than most recently didn’t really play music during the funeral. The wakes did, though. So I actually made a list of songs that I’d want them to play while the wake is going on. I have this all planned out.
But I’ll narrow it down to one for here.
Grace by Jeff Buckley.
Friggin in the Riggin by Sex Pistols,oh yeah!
Afterlife by Avenged Sevenfold.
Satisfaction by the Stones.
FUNERAL – Life is for living. Live you life, it is sooo much fun. Have a good day.
Here is a short excerpt, and here are the lyrics.
Green Day Time of Your Life or Dave Matthews’ Gravedigger.
Today Was A Good Day – Ice Cube
Cold As Ice, by Foreigner!
Really a good song!
While I usually have oddball tastes in such things, here I would go for the traditional, and sentimental stuff.
How Great Thou Art
I’ll be Seeing You In All the Old Familiar Places
And maybe, if I am feeling fun before those last moments, Louis Louis
‘Thank you for the days’ ... Kirsty MacColl
At the end of the day funerals are for the comfort of the survivors. I would prefer to leave the choice of music and trappings up to those left behind so they can choose whatever works best for them.
I do, however, hope those I leave behind choose to have one hellofa party as a last remembrance.
Tangerine by Led Zeppelin.
Would anyone want to try Flo Rida- Low???
You Only Live Once or The End Has No End by The Strokes
