I think it is called alt.suicide.holiday and it is either a jokey or serious suicide site.

Never heard of such a thing, is it supposed to help people who are considering suicide?
actually i saw it once. I think it told people how to do it. but it may have been tongue in cheek
There is a newsgroup called alt.suicide.holiday. As with most things on usenet it appears to be a mixture of jokey and serious.
Wow, how to kill yourself in ten easy steps, thats messed up.
I don’t even know the difference between a newsgroup and a website. Is a newsgroup from pre-web when everything was text? Like fluther with no pictures? Do they still exist? I don’t remember exactly what it was i saw.
Newsgroups are on Usenet and they are pretty old. Usenet probably does pre-date the web, although maybe not by much. I’m not sure of that. It was immensely popular when the Internet was still young and not used much by the common folk.
It is text based, although there are lots of pictures on it encoded with uuencode or yenc. You can get a newsreader for most operating systems but most, if not all, ISPs have dropped their own news servers. You can surf the web to find free news servers but they’re generally unreliable and don’t carry much in the way of newsgroups. And there are thousands of news groups.
I don’t think i’m in the mood for looking for this one. I am pretty down tonight and everything makes me want to cry.
but @mrentropy thanks for the info. I was curious about pre WWW on the net
@anartist I fully understand right now. You need something a bit more upbeat.
If I had time I would tell you about gopher, which is still hanging on to usability somehow.
