Would you make a good diplomat?

Asked by Zen_Again (9936points) April 22nd, 2010

Ambassador, Consul or the like?

Do you have the skills? The desire?

Why aren’t you one then? What stopped you?

The week that I have spent back in customer service has convinced to answer not just “no” to your question, but HELL NO. We would be at war in a heartbeat.

No, not really. But I’d be a good guy to sit behind the ambassador and whisper things in his ear.

I have nowhere near the patience or kowtowing skills necessary to wade through so much self-serving pomp and puerile bullshit.

@Snarp. They exist and are called “gray eminence” or Éminence grise,

I fail at diplomacy often; I call a fool a fool.

@gailcalled That’s how I’ve always seen myself. Now if I could just find someone powerful to think I should be that person….

I can’t control my facial grimaces! I could do it for a time but the people would feel my dislike, distaste if it was that kind of situation.

No, my moods are too unreliable.

Yes, I love my country and I love people and this would be a dream job for me because I believe

No. Much like Harry Truman, I would call an ace an ace, and a spade a spade. Truth does not work in the modern day version of (alleged) diplomacy.
