What is your opinion on South Park being censored ?

Asked by Pretty_Lilly (4660points) April 22nd, 2010

I lost interest in South Park years ago but I think Comedy Central shouldn’t have forced the creators to edit the content because of radical Muslims making threats.
I’m certain the creators were forced to do so as Trey Parker & Matt Stone would have probably dedicated an entire show just to mess with these nuts & pissed them off !

@andrew That’s what I always tried to tell my mom. lol

Haha but yeah, people are stupid. Just in case they haven’t noticed, Southpark makes fun of everyone equally! Stop being so sensitive! GEEZE!

@ShiningToast You’re right, I’m jumping to conclusions,,,,,,,Ya’ know it was probably some Hasidic Jews responsible ! We all know how violent and extremist they are !!!

The terrorists win.

South Park will never be censored.

South Park should Never be censored. Ever!

I think it’s lame. That’s like adding liquid mercury to a sword designed for beheading in order to nullify the process of coagulation.

So, the Scrotie McBoogerballs episode wasn’t offensive, but a depiction of a depiction of Muhammed in a bear suit was?

According to the provided link: It was not immediately clear if the move was a bid to tread carefully following the warning against the “South Park” creators, or if they were poking fun at the fuss.

It was totally on purpose. They had Buddah snorting coke, and Jesus looking at internet porn. The very end, when the kids did the usual summation “I’ve learned something today…”, the entire speech gets bleeped out.
The show is genius.

Too late by seconds to edit the above response…

This appeared on the South Park website:

A Statement from Matt and Trey
In the 14 years we’ve been doing South Park we have never done a show that we couldn’t stand behind. We delivered our version of the show to Comedy Central and they made a determination to alter the episode. It wasn’t some meta-joke on our part. Comedy Central added the bleeps. In fact, Kyle’s customary final speech was about intimidation and fear. It didn’t mention Muhammad at all but it got bleeped too. We’ll be back next week with a whole new show about something completely different and we’ll see what happens to it.

So, apparently they did get censored. You bastards!

@Pretty_Lilly I’m not going to get into anything.

If you haven’t heard of this, Europeans had the very same debate 5 years ago

Kurt Westergaard almost got assassinated early this year

The danger for Trey Parker & Matt Stone is real, I’m afraid.

slick44's avatar

To bad. it should always be censored, or never. They didnt censore it when they mad fun of jesus on the show.

CyanoticWasp's avatar

@mattbrowne the danger for all of us is real. I’m not afraid.
