NSFW - Is it common to gain roughly 5 lbs (water) when on your period?

It’s day one, and pants that normally hang nicely off of my hips are rather snug.
I’ve been working out a lot and eating well, and this is a little disheartening. It had better be water retention!

I know how you feel. I always put weight on when I am on my period, but like you say, it is just water and it will go when you have finished. Just ignore the scales for a few days.

What is the upside to being a woman?
GA. I was thinking I just shot myself in the foot.
It is normal to fluctuate between 5 pounds while you have your period. A couple of ways to try and avoid it is to drink plenty of water and drop the caffeine and alcohol and to eat less salty foods (which is a hard one for me, haha).
I believe it is, especially if you house chocolate and salt products like I do!
Pretty common for me, for sure.
my pants that are normally perfect fitting and a little loose are always really snug during my period. I HATE IT. i feel like such a fat lumpy slug.
Yes. It can actually be more than five pounds.
Yes, it’s normal. The same thing happens to me. Drink a lot of water and take a diuretic to help the water weight decrease a little faster.
