Strange illlegible emails?

Every few days I get a new email with a long subject line of nothing but random symbols in my junk box on Hotmail. It happened first the day I registered my email address, so it’s nothing that I signed up for. I understand there’s spam and viruses, but don’t those only work if they look like something I would want to open? It’s literally just a bunch of:
”#koe#1osla9p8u35089mjacv8vn[ai8#$()l3)034”
I should have saved a few to show an actual example. I don’t remember the addresses they’ve been from. It’s just very odd.

Sounds like a mailbot. Just don’t open them. If it bothers you- report it as spam.
They are messages from the prophets—an invisible race of aliens that lives in the aether around Earth. You should consider yourself lucky to be blessed with such messages. Many want them, few get them. If you can decode them, you might well hold the key to the universe!
Yeah, I was just wondering if spam like this was common.
Thanks, @wundayatta . . .
I was more worried more about a mass email bot sending out encrypted messages that I don’t want to be associated with.
It’s an attempt by the sender to get around the spam filter.
I am single and somehow I have been targeted by a viagrabot.
Jesus…dozens of offers for viagra..WTF? lol
I am female and have been targeted by the same viagrabot . . .
Phizer seems to think if they keep discouting penis pills then I’ll order some. I don’t have a penis!
Well, Viagra does have similar effect on women. I mean, both genders are capable of having physical issues that prevent arousal. It’s just that the effects of increased blood flow are more obvious in men since our genitalia is external.
