Does claymation count as a cartoon?

I was just wondering by definition are claymations cartoons?

I think not. Cartoons and claymation are different forms of animation.
No. Claymation counts as stop motion video. It’s an elongated process of, shoot, stop, move and repeat. It’s a very lengthy process. Frankly cartoon animation or CGI would probably be more efficient, in a sense.
Wallace and Gromit say “No.” Claymation is an art form that belongs in the Met., the Louvre, the Tate, and the V & A.
In the realm of animation, they are quite different. But when you compare the entire field of animation to, say…the medical field, it would be reasonable to lump them in the same general category for communication’s sake. It could potentially be considered to be a matter of context.
Claymation is animation. So are cartoons, but claymation ain’t cartoons.
well said @filmfann that sounds about right. Then again a doctor with no interest in any of that might say, in reference to either format: “I dont have time for cartoons, I have a spine to operate on”, and you’d be a trivial guy to quibble.
Cartoons specify drawings.
