What are some ways to be cooler/ more popular in middle school (Boy)

Asked by Guy123123 (302points) April 24th, 2010

I am not a complete dork/nerd but i don’t think i am that cool either. What are some ways to be more popular in middle school? If you guys could give me some advice that would be great!

Stop worrying about being cool. That’s pretty cool. Trying to be cool is the #1 way to be not cool.

1. Don’t be bothered by ‘populairity’.
2. Be your self.

Sometimes the “in-crowd” isn’t the crowd you want to be in, find some people who like you for you and you’ll be popular with them.

A cool name like Lando Griffin never hurt either.

Let’s put it this way:
Why do you want to change who you are? Being someone who was in middle school not too long ago, I find that it is much more fulfilling to embrace who you are. Trying to be “cool” really doesn’t work, and it definitely doesn’t make you happy. Middle school will be over before you know it anyway, and then you’ll move on to high school where you’ll meet more people like yourself.

Hey now, the dorks and the nerds from my middle/high school are some of the best people that I’ve ever met..

It’s middle school. It’s impossible to be cool. People wear braces on their teeth, guys voices are changing, and the girls are all taller than you. The only way to be approximate cool in middle school is to get really good in math, and be able to help the girls with their homework, be friendly to everyone, and not concentrate on “coolness.” In the scheme of things, middle school is something to shut your eyes and endure.

Push yourself to try some new things and expand your interests. If you’re athletic, try out art or drama; if you’re creative, try out something intellectual like debate or a foreign language, etc. Check out some new music, books, or movies that you wouldn’t ordinarily be into. Maybe you will find something that you are really passionate about or meet some great new people. Being yourself is great advice, but there’s nothing fake about pushing your limits a little. If you’re outgoing and friendly, and you’re having a fun time, people will want to be around you.

Be confident, love being around other people and be interested in what they have to say. Be interesting, watch popular tv shows and follow a sports team. And most importantly, be kind and non-judgmental and you’ll start to get a reputation that will help you to be popular when it actually matters.

You shouldn’t be worried about being popular. I’m in middle school, and i’m not in the popular group, but I have a lot of great friends. I am friends with a lot of the popular kids, and honestly, all they do is talk about who they like and who they want to spread rumors about. Don’t worry about being cool, just be yourself and be nice- you’ll have more friends that way.
