Taco Bell has gone "green" using food synthesizers?

Asked by earthduzt (3243points) April 25th, 2010

Here is a link to video about Taco Bell going “green” now everything on the menu is made in a lab using food synthesizers. Not one ounce of food is taken from nature and that includes lettuce. Is this going to be the new wave of the future for all restaurants? I surely hope not, I just don’t know how much I trust lab created food. Good idea or bad idea? I know one thing I will not buy from Taco bell anymore not that I go there often, I live in San Antonio where we have real tacos..but the rarely occasional taco bell taco wasn’t so bad

Anywhere in this video, is the word “Soylent” spoken of?
It’s made of people!

Mystery meat is never a fun adventure.

Btw the video is a joke right?

/edit: Watched the end and it is confirmed it is just a joke. I was kind of suspicious when it said “The Onion” in the title but the last few items were definitely not serious.

I hope it is a joke

Just wanted to make the observation that I would be for a restaurant growing all of their own food using hydroponics or what not. But there is no way you can say that that produces zero environmental impact when they charge at 300W/hour.

I hope this is a joke, like earthduzt. I never eat there; now I won’t even be tempted.

@thriftymaid It is a joke. If you still consider it to be real after watching the whole thing you need to get yourself tested.

thriftymaid's avatar

@Ame_Evil I only watched the first few seconds. I very very rarely eat fast food anyway.

Ame_Evil's avatar

@thriftymaid Yeah at the start I thought it was plausible except I hated them for saying zero environmental impact. They joke at the end about releasing products such as tacos that absorb the CO2 from the air.

Sure this is a joke, but i wonder if Taco Bell actually knows or endorsed this peace of whatever? or, maybe Taco Bell did endorse this video and using reverse psychology on you and i? advertising is getting to be “way out there”.

OMG people! Did you notice the source of this is the Onion? It is a satyrical news source. It’s not real.

Captain_Fantasy's avatar

Yeah, we get that. lol

dpworkin's avatar

It was written by a Satyr? Did you get a boner?

@dpworkin Thanks for noticing (the spelling, that is).

I always notice anything amusing.

It’s always an awkward situation where you have to explain that the Onion is fictional.

Seriously, guys?

I feel like 12 people learn The Onion is satirical every day. The more you know. :)
