Is there a commercial bbq sauce out there that is not loaded with sugar?

Asked by john65pennington (29273points) April 25th, 2010

Last night, i ordered a bbq sandwich from a nice restaurant. big mistake. the bbq sauce had at least a bowl full of sugar in it and ruined the taste of the sandwich. out on the shelves of grocery stores, is there a bbq sauce that you have used, that is not sweet at all? i plan on having a cookout soon and bbq is on the list. i want a sauce that compliments the sandwich, not one that smothers it with sugar and molasses. so, what bbq sauce, on the shelves, have you used that meets my “no-sugar” ingredients?

Well I live in South Texas so we have some really good BBQ sauces, the one I normally buy is called Stubb’s it comes straight from Austin, we have it in the grocery stores here and it is not an sweet BBQ sauce, I personally cannot stand sweet BBQ sauce. It’s got a nice twang to it though. Here is the Stubb’s website

Earthduzt. thanks for the info. i will check at Krogers and see if that brand is available here.

Another vote for Stubb’s. I don’t like things too sweet, either, and I like Stubb’s.
