Where should I go backpacking in California in May with my dog?
I’m looking for wildflowers, not too much snow, and dog-friendly wilderness for a 2 or 3 day backpacking trip. Recommendations anyone?

Marble Mountains? There’s tons of trails up there.
Oh, should have mentioned that I’m based in San Francisco and would like to do something within a 3–4 hour drive if possible…
Lake Tahoe area..Salt springs and Union mine resevior off of Hwy. 50 on the way to Tahoe….depends on your condition..can you breathe at 7000 ft. plus? lol
Look up Panther creek area too.
Or…if you want mellower hiking and lots of river trails and maybe a rafting excursion come to my neck o’ the woods, Coloma river valley. ;-)
big sur? i was up in marin county this weekend, hiking over by stinton beach (muir beach to be more exact) but that’s less than an hour outside of the city. so beautiful though!!
Oh, to get back to you all on this… I went to Big Sur – on the Sykes hot springs trail. Fantastic!
@dianalauren Did you get to eat at Nepenthe? It’s a wonderful restaurant in Big Sur. :-)
No, but I went to the Big Sur Bakery for dinner – amazing food.
Certainly through a great deal of the redwoods!
