I'm looking for a couple songs that really capture the symbolism of the skyscraper in American culture. Any suggestions?
I’m looking for songs that don’t just mention skyscrapers, but really are kind of about them. I really like the song by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys because it does an adequate job, but I’d like to find some more that are either just like that or a little different. So it can be about a skyscraper, a city, or the skyline, etc.

Not like Jay Z but…New York New York by Sinatra is great.
Skyscraper by bad religion is the only one I can think of. Probably not what you’re looking for though.
“Lights” by Journey is a song about San Francisco and all its greatness…I LOVE IT. It gives me shivers and makes me sad at the same time lol.
or how about Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania by Guy Mitchell. It’s a serious oldie but its still good. Plus its about Pittsburgh….Boo ya
New York State of Mind – Billy Joel
Viva Las Vegas – Elvis the pelvis
OH OH OH GOOD ONE…MIAMI – WILL SMITH :) :) :)
Oh how about Breakfast in America by Supertramp! “Take a jumbo cross the water, like to see America. See the girls in California!
The Fool and the Hummingbird – Peter Kater
I can’t remember the title of the song from the early 70’s. Something like Love on the 70th Floor. Very pop.

So Stark – Pavement
It’s really the only one I can think of.
Sky is the Limit by Biggie
“Forty-Second Street” by Harry Warren and Al Dubin
“Give My Regards to Broadway” by George M. Cohan
Thanks guys, these are all really good. I think I’ve got just about enough here.
“Ladder To Heaven”-Alan Jackson from South Park.
“Sky Is The Limit”-Biggie
“Dissected Your God On The Ruins of the World Trade Center”-Fuck… I’m Dead (a brutal death metal song, it’s patriotic, because its actually about the Muslim god being killed by a Jewish United State person. Funny shit!).
