Which story ripped off the other first Jeremiah Johnson or Drizzt Do'Urden [see details]?

The movie Jeremiah Johnson and Forgotten Realms novel Sojourn’s “Drizzt Do’Urden” have similar storylines and characters…I wonder which ripped each other off first. Both came out in the 70’s… Do you know which came first?... and do you notice the similarities?

Just from descriptions I can find, both of them seem to be sort of “core stories”, and so things that pop up relatively independently.

Also looks like Sojourn was published in 1991, not in the 70’s. —http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_Elf_Trilogy

Well since ‘liver eating’ Johnson was a real person and Drizzt Do’Urden is a fictional character, I would have to say Jeramiah Johnson came first.

@WestRiverrat Jeremiah Johnson is a real character? I don’t think Robert redford is any more real than Drizzt Do’Urden if both are based on a true story

John Johnson existed, and was the basis for the story, or at least the character: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liver-Eating_Johnson

Saying that Sojourn was based on a true story is a bit of a stretch, however. The circumstances of JJ are closer to the original Liver-Eating Johnson.
