Where do you think things will be like, say, 10,000 years from now?

I think that if we survive, the planet would be completely different and we’d be living on other planets as well.

We might have destroyed ourselves, we might have been wiped out by a natural catastrophy, such as a global pandemic or asteroid impact, or we might have survived and colonised the the planets of other stars, trading with other extraterrestrial civilisations, being in a galactic federation or at war with them. No way to predict it at this point.
But one thing is certain: The rapture will not have happened.

10,000 years is a long, long time. I’m going on sheer faith in the human spirit alone in the assumption that humans will even exist in 12010; but I think the world will be unimaginably different, to a point where we can’t even speculate.

1 gender. More patient. More conscious of how we treat our home planet. And hopefully, a lot kinder to one another.

@MrsDufresne . . . only one gender? That would be distressing to me. I sort of like all the exciting diversity and the things we can learn from one another in our differences. Besides… I like our method of reproduction, every part of it. : >

I’m still hazy on exactly what we were like 10,000 years ago.

I’m with Stephen Hawking on his theory that we need to colonize space or the human race will eventually suffer devastating losses or become extinct.

I think it’ll be just like it is now, only more so.

More rules. More government. More idiots making the rules and running the government.

Way more money. If bread was a nickel in 1920, and $3.00 now, imagine how much a sandwich will cost in 12010. The mind reels.

(Wish I could be around for the YTK computer dating fix thing, too. I’ll bet that’ll take all of ten minutes to resolve.)

If we survive the next 50 years, we will most likely survive the next 1 million years and galactic colonization will be in full swing.
