I’m pretty sure it’s not Donnie Darko. I own every version/edition of that movie & it doesn’t fit the profile. My guess is along the lines of something of a Christmas Carol spin-off. Totally off topic, but “The Invisible” was an excellent movie. He was trying to get someone to find him before he died. It was great.

I think I might have found the answer. DREAM A LITTLE DREAM OF ME with Corey Feldman and Corey Haim. There’s nothing about ghosts in it though. I actually think I saw this movie as a child and then had a dream about it and the dream was the part I remembered. Great Movie though slightly complicated.
