What do you think about this quote?

So if you want to be with me
With these things there’s no telling
We just have to wait and see
But I’d rather be working for a paycheck
Than waiting to win the lottery

The last two lines are what I’m focusing on. I view them as a metaphor for relationships; specifically, settling for a relationship that’s less than optimal. Do you agree that you’d rather have a pleasant companionship and stave off loneliness, rather than wait around for the perfect person? Is it worth forming relationships with people you know aren’t “the one?” Or do you think relationships should only be pursued if he/she is a “lottery win”? Or, maybe you interpret the quote differently. Discuss!
