(NSFW) Are orgasms just itches based on histamine reactions?
While on vacation, I got bitten by a mosquito on my hand. Upon scratching the area, I noticed that the feeling is very similar to an orgasm, which inspired me to ask this question.

I’ve never been so anxious to have my next mosquito bite. Thanks. haha.
Who cares what they are caused by?
I had a friend that if you brushed agents her the “wrong” way. She would almost if not climax.
Sometimes taking a pee can be sooo good.
Not taking any chances…<<Cruiser throws out all his antihistamines…>>
Did the mosquito have a little head that looked like Giovanni Giacomo?
I am on the reference desk. This is bad, not good.
Just watch out for bees! You get stung by a bee, and they’ll have to make “When Harry Met Sally II.”
@janbb Think The Fly. Dirty penguin.
—could not wait to see these answers—loll…
Well, things affect different people in different ways! But, in this life, have never found anything that tops the “real thing!”
understand the comment…..and the question. The intensity level cannot be duplicated in my humble opinion.
@MrsDufresne Funny you should ask this. I was wondering something similar the other day. I was thinking of my ex who liked to burst pimples. I think it was close to an obsession with him. I empathized with him to an extent, in that I noted that there is a certain feeling of satisfaction/gratification when the fluid is expelled. Then I got to thinking about orgasm, which is also expelling fluid. It led me to other expressions of speech like “taking a good, healthy s*#t”. I wondered, is there a connection? Is the simple act of getting rid of fluids or waste in the body a lower level of the same satisfaction that comes (no pun intended) with the ultimate release of bodily fluids?
Hmm. Anyway, about your question; I’ve heard sex referred to as “scratching an itch” before. And with both, the effect is temporary. One needs to do it again and again all through life. I don’t know the actual mechanics of either, but again, one does derive a certain relief/satisfaction from both.
Then viagra is the itching powder in tablet form.
@ucme The viagra does not guarantee anything but the ability to scratch, there is no relief from the itch guaranteed. in fact, it could act as a acetylcholinesterase inhibitor in that you may be unable to stop scratching! Have fun ‘splaining that one in the ER! ;-)
misunderstood the question…will answer later
@Trillian Oooh I say stop that this instant young lady you’re turning me on with all your fanciful talk & rapier wit. I do declare I feel a little giddy.

similar Pricks, just different in size! :)
@jjmah Are you talking about @Jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilites? haha
@chyna and @jjmah Oh – do let’s talk about @jeffgoldblumsprivateparts! We haven’t in a while.
Oh, I’m jealous. I always get bit by mosquitos and unfortunately never get that feeling.
Yes! yes they are!!...(well kind of…)! About half way down on the right hand side of the page…. which would also explain why I get a funny rash over my legs and arms after orgasming too!! but don’t tell everyone that
I doubt it because otherwise, there’d be orgasm-inducing substances, since histamines are easily created or prevented with drugs.
Sorry, no time to answer. I’m headed out to roll around in the poison ivy.
If that’s the case then I would not have had the great orgasms my boyfriend has been dishing out over the past month that I have been drugged on allergy medications. And also if that’s the case, I should me having orgasms left and right by not taking them during allergy season, and that does not happen. Poo
@MrsDufresne Are you sure you have fully experienced a true orgasm? This is not meant to be rude but some percentage of women may have been stimulated to some extent by sexual stimulation without actually having a true orgasm. I dated a sweet woman who had been with numerous partners and had enjoyed the experiences. When I took the time to make sure she had an orgasm she was utterly shocked at the intensity of that experience. She told me she had never felt anything like that before. My point is that the irritation from scratching a mosquito bite may be similar to what you have experienced from sexual stimulation that irritated your clitoris and vagina without resulting in a full orgasm.
Does this seem possible to you? Good luck.
I have noticed this. There are things that do feel similar, and one is scratching an itch, like a mosquito bite. Or peeing sometimes feels similar, or, ahem, number 2 does sometimes as well.
Stretching feels almost orgasmic to me too, sometimes. Interesting. Research must be done!
Nope, nothing else is like an orgasm to me.
Its just that the itch is so intense that when you finally get to scratch it,it feels THAT good!
@Dr_Lawrence. Haha! Yes, I have experienced real orgasms. The sensation that I was referring to occurred when I scratched the area very lightly. The bite was itching terribly, I experienced this sensation that caused my entire body to freeze and shut down with pleasure, but the only difference was that the localized focus was on my hand. And with orgasm, a similar, (albeit, more intense) sensation occurs, well…..you know where ;o)
@slick44 Yep, exactly.
has anyone looked at the article I posted…
@lynneblundell Yep, I did. It was fascinating, and answered this question accurately. Thanks again. ;-)
