What is your experience with a steam mop?
I’m over the swiffers, floppy mops and poorly cleaning sponges and I’m looking at getting a steam mop.
Do you have one or have used one? What do you like/dislike about it? What should I look for in one and how much did yours cost?
Hopefully I can wiggle a birthday present out of this!

I have a Shark, but I wish I’d bought the Bissell. It does a wonderful job & is very easy to use. But the Bissell’s head rotates every which way & the Shark’s doesn’t. Just back & forth, not side to side. I can’t get in behind the toilet with it. For $20 more, I could have had the Bissell. That’d be my only thing to do over. But it cleans great, & the floor dries super fast. I think you’d like one.
@jbfletcherfan: How much did you pay for it? I’ve been thinking about one myself, but haven’t gone about pricing yet.
@jbfletcherfan Thanks for answering. The Shark is one that I was looking at. Looks like I’ll put my eye more toward the Bissel then. How long does it take to get the water hot? Do you get hot from being around all the steam?
@poofandmook The Shark was $79. The Bissell is right at $100.
@gemiwing The water gets hot quite fast. No, you don’t get hot from the steam. It stays down on the floor & doesn’t drift up into the air very much. But it DOES get hot!
I have heard and read good things about the Bussell. (from a certain squirrel I might add)
I’m planning to dump my Swiffer Wet Jet and get a steamer. Need to cut back on chemicals (not to mention the cost of supplies).
@cprevite Hi…yes, you can’t get much cheaper than water. :-)
But the bussell went out of fashion YEARS ago. Try looking for a Bissell :D
