Who said it was?

Maybe he should have said, love and good health is all you need.

And we know how he turned out. Ooh. Is that wrong?

@Captain_Fantasy You have a very good point, but if I could only pick one “thing” in this life it would be love.

Love doesn’t pay the mortgage. I think you would get pretty hungry too on just love.

A quest for healing is often motivated by the compassion of those personally affected. So love does seek cures for all types of maladies.

Buddhist Prayer of Peace

May all beings everywhere plagued with sufferings of body and mind quickly be freed from their illnesses. May those frightened cease to be afraid, and may those bound be free. May the powerless find power, and may people think of befriending one another. May those who find themselves in trackless, fearful wilderness – the children, the age, the unprotected – be guarded by beneficial celestials, and may they swiftly attain Buddhahood.

Depends on what you say your needs are. Maybe you don’t need to cure malaria. BTW, I was under the impression that nothing cures malaria. And, that health, such as generally comes from love as opposed to suffering, tends to avoid disease. Ultimately, though, you can define your own needs.

Love is grand but it doesn’t automatically come with independence, stability, security, health, ambition, respect, generosity, stamina, aptitude, etc.

What I need is every tool in my box in order to not wear out love.

Maybe love and unviersal health care is all you need would be more accurate?

John Lennon was wrong. You need food, water, and air too. We’re only human, after all.

YARNLADY's avatar

Love is all you need——for what? There isn’t enough information to make sense. Even if you need more in the physical realm, the rest of the sentence could read——- to see you through.

Dr_Lawrence's avatar

Human needs include love but are certainly not limited to it as @Bluefreedom pointed out. I doubt John Lennon seriously meant to be taken literally in that case.

He was an artist. It was artistic license.

It’s all I need. Without it I am dead.

@no one in particular
Some people need to expand their definition of love. It’s far more than romantic.
