My mom would love a dinner of steak, lobster and crabs legs.

Last time I was home, I asked my mom this. She wanted Grilled Cheese sandwiches and tomato soup.

Where is this country where mama only has one day per year that she doesn’t have to cook?

I’m lucky; she enjoys the ambiance of a formal restaurant rather than the exhausted faces of her culinary family. That day is also my birthday, so not cooking is a bonus for me as well.

I’m thinking of making my absolutely wicked good vodka sauce that I’ve been promising my grandmother I’d make for her.

Unfortunately, I have to put up with my mom that day. /sigh

@rebbel Really. My mom never cooks. Do you ever sleep? Aren’t you about 20 hours behind us in time?

Barbecued ribs, baked potato, corn, broccoli salad, ice cream

This mama would probably enjoy anything that my family made for me, or any dinner that they would take me out for.
I think I would be just as happy to stay home and have them put something on the grill or whip up something simple in the kitchen.
It doesn’t have to be fancy as long as they fix it and clean up the mess.
Here is a sample menu that I would love to have prepared by them.
Spaghetti (sauce from a jar is fine with me)
Garlic bread or cheese toast. (buy the bread at the bakery)
A vegetable (frozen or from a can, I don’t care)
salad (from a bag is OK)
Dessert is always good. (Something from the bakery or a frozen pie or cake.)

I would be thrilled if my family made that dinner for me, and cleaned up the kitchen after.

@wilma You must be the worlds easiest to please mother!

@wilma: Pepperidge Farm makes a wicked mozzarella garlic bread, in the frozen section. it’s so yummy.
