Is there a name for the someone that loves storms?
For example, if an ailuromaniac is obsessed with cats… what would the word be for someone obsessed with storms? Or even rain. Is there such a thing?

I hope someone has the answer because I love storms. I would like to know what to call myself.
Well, brontophobia and astraphobia have to do with the fear of thunder and lightning, and ombrophobia is the fear of rain. I love rain, so I think I could call myself an ombrophile (= lover of) and no one could say I wasn’t. You could help yourself to “brontophile.”
Well I love cats and storms.
Hey! What’s maniac doing in that purrrfectly nice word?
What is the word for someone who loves watching storms with their cat?
I’ll be a brontofile and astraphile. Now, I also love blizzards so I’ll be one of those, too.
Brontocumailurovideophile.
@Jeruba Well, we might just have to practice some neologisms on the fly here. What about brontophialia and astraphialia and ombrophilia? Do you have any suggestions? I think I have exhausted the -philias here.

@lillycoyote, that’s what I was saying with “brontophile.” The -philia part (no a before the l) means “love of,” and the -phile suffix is “lover of.” Necrophilia. Bibliophile. Etc.
Book lover? Sounds kinky.
@Jeruba That’s why I need you Jeruba, to keep me on the strait and and narrow with my Latin and Greek roots, suffixes, etc. :)

@Jeruba I’m going to need a shorter word for conversation purposes!
Since ‘ailuromaniac’ is based in Latin, I submit the suggestion of tempestophile. Tempestaphile? Anyway, tempestas is Latin for “storm”.
So I looked up your suggestions… and “brontophile” does indeed mean “someone who is fond of thunderstorms.”
I am so excited to have a word for this, thank you!
@OneMoreMinute I was actually laying at the foot of my bed last night, with my cat, watching the lightning…. we should start a club :P haha
@TheOnlyNeffie Yeah, we should start a “Thunder Cats” club. With a lightning bolt over the top!
Meteorophile or Atmosphile
I was almost struck by lightning once, I saw it in the corner of my eye and immediately jumped in the air, I wasn’t injured, but the interesting thing is, lightning doesn’t sound all that loud when your very close to it, its more like the sound of a big piece of aliminum foil being hit, but people twenty feet away, said it was the loudest thunder they ever heard.
