So when can you submit for credit report?

Asked by earthduzt (3243points) May 6th, 2010

I know you get one free credit report a year, I’m wondering though if it resets at the begining of the new year or is it a year from when you requested one? Also, does anyone know where I can get a free credit report, any particular agencies that are better than others?

My wife just requested a credit report and its been at least one year, since the last request.

This is the official place to get your free credit report. You are actually entitled to one free credit report every twelve months from each of the three major credit reporting agencies. That means you get three free ones a year—not just one. So you are eligible now. Otherwise, the wording would indicate you need to wait a year after getting one from that particular credit agency.

Like the others said, it’s 12 months from the last one. Since you can get one from three different credit reporting agencies each year, it’s a good idea to space them out so that you can actually get one ever 4 months. That way you can keep a good eye on your credit report throughout the year instead of just once a year. There may be variations from one agency to the next, so don’t be surprised if they aren’t all the exact same.

You can purchase a credit report at any time. In the USA you are allowed three free ones per year, one from each credit reporting bureau.
