Where do you buy your contact lenses?

Asked by xxii (3329points) May 7th, 2010

I’m looking for a cheap and reliable website to buy contact lenses at a discount.

I’ve Googled and found sites like CoastalContacts.com, JustLenses.com, etc. I was wondering if anyone has experience with these or similar sites and could recommend one.

I’d rather buy online for the sake of convenience, but if you know of a location in Durham, NC, that works too.

I don’t have a prescription here – I started wearing contacts before coming to America and I just need to buy new ones. I’ve heard Costco is good, but they require a prescription.

Anywhere you go is going to require a prescription, and they recommend it be within two years. You may be able to fudge it if you buy online and happen to have all the information they want, but any storefront will want a valid, American prescription.

Okay, I guess I’m limited to places online for now, or at least till I have a prescription.

Most online sellers will ask for your eye Doctor’s number to confirm your prescription, as required by law.
There’s also 1800contacts.com and Drugstore.com.

My eye Doctor was willing to match the discount my insurance company offered through the big box online sellers, so I purchased from them in order to support local small business.

If you are going online check out 1800contacts. If you are going in store then you should check out Wal-Mart. If you are a member of Sam’s then you should check them out because some brands are cheaper at Sam’s then at Wal-Mart.
