Is there any connection between the boy scouts and classic nazism?
I read an article long time ago that suggested such connection but I can’t find it and I was wondering if there is, in fact, one.

Here is one article on where this thinking may have come from.
I have two sons, one cub scout and the other a boy scout. I am also the cub master of my younger son’s cub scout pack as well as an adult leader in my older son’s boy scout troop. I can tell you with 100% certainty that there is absolutely no connection between the boy scouts and any form of Nazism.
What boy scouts provides is a wonderful opportunity for the cub scout age boys to spend some quality time having fun with their parents and other boys their own age. At the boy scout level they start learning some rather important life skills like leadership and responsibility, not to mention practical skills that might just help them save somebodies butt some day.
The Scout Motto:
Be Prepared!
The Scout Slogan:
Do a good turn daily.
The Scout Oath:
On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physical strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.
The Scout Law:
A Scout is:
-Trustworthy
-Loyal
-Helpful
-Friendly
-Courteous
-Kind
-Obedient
-Cheerful
-Thrifty
-Brave
-Clean
-and Reverent
How could anyone possibly draw a connection between good clean family fun coupled with learning practical life skills and Nazism??????
None whatsoever.
Their mission statement:
“The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation’s largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness.
For nearly a century, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes — and, through nearly a century of experience, knows — that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.”
Along the way, boys pick up things like leadership, cooperation, problem-solving, and all of those merit badge skills. Becoming an Eagle Scout requires no less than 12 useful merit badges.
I was a boyscout in my youth. I was turned into a highly efficient killing machine with an instilled hatred of minorities which resonates within me to this very day.
Actually, we learned how to fish, tie a few knots, and make caesar salad… that’s about it.
The Boy Scouts began a century ago in England. Scouting didn’t start in Germany until after WW2. No connection. NF
The above links contain interesting historical information. The only connection I would see is they both catered to the young men of the country, and both wore military looking brown uniforms. Beyond that, there was no connection.
