I certainly didn’t forget. And thanks for posting this question. It’s put on by my union and is officially called the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. And although I don’t have any of these “special boxes” you referenced, we have no problem with rogue cans and boxes. We just fit them in with other bags of food picked up.
I thank all who donate food. And so does your local food bank and pantry. Just be sure that anything you donate be non-perishable.

I didn’t forget, but the mailman probably did because he never picked it up.
