The Intensity and Length of Tummy Tuck Pain?

Asked by Aster (20028points) May 8th, 2010

How painful on a 1–10 scale is a tummy tuck?
If the dr. didn’t use drains, how much would
the pain be reduced? And, how many pant sizes did you go down? Was it worth it?

I’ve not had one, but 2 nurses I worked with did, and said it was totally worth it.

Just be aware of the risks involved with any and all procedures.

Not my thing, but…I have had 3 friends that have had some horrible expereinces. The most recent was my friends 26 yr. old daughter who had a tummy tuck and breast life. The tummy tuck went fine but the nipple on one breast did not take the re-posistioning and re-attachment and she may lose the nipple. The doctors are actually using leaches to try and suck the toxins and bad blood out.

Same friends husband works with a guy in his early 30’s with 2 little kids and his wife of the same age had a stroke 3 days after her tummy tuck and is left with permanent disabilities as a very young woman.

Same friend herself had a botched breast lift where the fat they implanted from her abdomen did not take on one breast and fell like a sauasge roll onto her ribcage.

Took 2 corrective surgeries and a lot of pain to fix, and she has poor results.

Yet another freind my age is going in for a cheek lift/implants, eyebrow lift next week, injecting fat from her belly into her cheeks and some other stuff, like laser treatment.

She has already put about 8k into her face with botox and quite frankly, I can hardly see a dif.

Honestly…I wouldn’t touch my body with cosmetic surgery, but each to their own, just be aware that here is ONE person that knows of at least 4 in her circle of aquaintances and friends that had some horrible experiences.

Buyer beware.

that is terrible! and surprising! The lady I know in her fifties spent Top Dollar and had: stomach bypass and lost over 100lb and kept it off, tummy tuck looks Great, facelift that looks “ok” meaning if you are not pretty in the face to begin with, sometimes a facelift won’t make you pretty. Plus, she told them to leave her nose alone. This left her with her natural but “witchy” type nose.
She did have fat injections in her cheeks which disappeared in no time. High cheekbones are very nice on women. If you don’t have cheekbones you could get the silicone solid implants but they sound awful to me (I don’t need them) because they slice the inside of your mouth to insert them. ack. Of course, the 100+ lb weightloss left her with sagging skin on her arms and thighs which some of us have anyway. Then another lady I know had a facelift and , after not seeing her for years, I ran into in a store and she looked Gorgeous! She was gorgeous before but you’d expect some signs of aging but she had none. This person also had all her veins in her legs stripped and was on crutches afterwards (so she woudn’t have blue veins showing), and a full mouth of veneers
which looked a little large to me. She said she CRIED when they did her teeth.

i have a friend that lost like 85 lbs through just a regular diet, and her stomach was hanging, and she still had a double chin, so she got a tummy tuck and they cut the chin, too. the recovery from the tummy tuck looked like serious, miserable pain for a good week. she could not laugh because of the chin, and she was really out of it. however, when it was all done she looked great, but the weight loss had a lot to do with that, as well.
