Do you feel a "sense of freedom" with the new social section?
“Let freedom ring,” and “free at last.” loll..
Hey, this is my thing…you can have fun and not get your comments removed.
Will you spend more time on social, general, or meta? And why?

Yes, so much!! I love it . We can be serious or crazy.
It seems like the arrangement is a good solution. I understand there have been some complaints. I haven’t had a chance to backtrack yet, so I’m not sure what the complaints are, and it may be a little too soon to tell, but this seems fine to me. I felt plenty free beforehand, however.
I feel a “sense of relief”. Now there is a clear distinction where seriousness and levity can be found in different parts of Fluther. And hopefully people will stop complaining so much about how bad Fluther can be or how evil the Mods are or how inconsistent the editing processes are and so on and so on and so on.
yeah @faye and @dpworkin i love it too…fun..and crazy…loll..yeeehaaaaaaa…and all that bitching by a “few” about the changes…. Think the changes are super!
I like it, but I like giving funny answers sometimes!
You know, honestly, these changes haven’t fazed me in the slightest. None of the changes this site has been through since I joined in late 2008 have affected me at all. I’m participating as I always have.
@Bluefreedom and @Draconess25 makes me want to “let my hair down!” Remember the song by Ray Stevens…the Streak..“makes me want to get naked and run through the pole beans!”
Love this part….“And I hollered over at Ethel…I said don’t look Ethel
It was too late, she’d already been incensed”...
Just feeling wild and crazy today…might get naked tonight, run through the woods, and bark at the moon! Loll..
Oh me…no, i’ve not been drinking.
@aprilsimnel naw…what the heck..in the scheme of things, no big deal. People in the terminal ward is a big deal. Some of the heat words said over this change, was at best, amusing…trying to be positive here.
I logged on Fluther today after a few days away and I got mildly confused. Still trying to work my mind around it (there are all these questions I want to ask and I can’t figure out where to put them or how to word them) but I think it’s a good idea, and it’ll turn out right.
@BoBo1946 <<hic>> Sangria is good with fancy cookies & buttered toast!
@kyanblue yeah, the intellects…and some of you maybe one…that is cool..great…but, we fun loving, lack of proper grammar, kind of people can be in the social section with a sense of freedom.
i’ve always been a people person…i’m a socializer…. Answerbag, was more of a social site and miss that..
Could not be more pleased with the changes. Think everyone will see this in time.
Since I am new, there’s no user-curve for me…it seems logical…a clear cut distinction of categories. I always appreciate those attempting to truly improve a design.
@MissA yes, this being the twenty first century…adjusting to change is a must.
Social.I like to have fun and despise Wikipedia ;)
I love the social section. I suspect 90% of the questions I’ll answer will be here.
Awww @dpworkin, is that your dog in your updated avatar!?
That was my girlfriend’s penultimate dog guide, Gina, in 2002. Sadly, Gina has died.
[mod says] Just a gentle reminder that the Writing Standards apply everywhere on the site. :)
@dpworkin – I’m so sorry to hear that :’( Beautiful dog.
She was quite an astonishing dog. The new dog is extraordinary, too, but in a much different way, of course.
I can barely keep up with what the site suggests I respond to now.
I was already ‘modded’ for exercising my freedom of expression – go figure.
@YARNLADY guess they really don’t want us to have any fun. That is unreal. Yeah, go figure! Seemed to a control thing.
Forget Freedom at last!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@augustlan other than writing skills to be adhered to on all sections of Fluther, is there anything else that we should know about the social section…a given, no personal abuse, spamming etc. (think everyone that posted here on this question was aware of those rules from day one) Did i/we do something on this question that required your reminder of the rules?
@YARNLADY – why did you get modded? Was it in the social or general section?
Yes, I do. I’ll be spending most of my time in the social section. Fluther is something I do to have fun and to socialize a little with new people over some shared interest. We meet up on the questions, we get to know each other when we answer and we get to express our interest in how the other person thinks in the off topic comments. If I wanted to stick to “just the facts ma’am”, I’d be hanging out with Sergeant Joe Friday.
I’ve been asking more general questions, than social. But I think I’ll be answering more in the social section. It is nice to have the differences between knowing I’ll get the info I’m looking for and be able to still have fun.
@Rachienz I’m not really sure – they don’t tell use why
@BoBo1946 I just didn’t want any misconceptions about the Social Section, based on your earlier comment:
yeah, the intellects…and some of you maybe one…that is cool..great…but, we fun loving, lack of proper grammar, kind of people can be in the social section with a sense of freedom.
I was just noting that we still care about proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation… even on the Social side of things. :)
For more information, check out the Social Guidelines and the Writing Standards.
@augustlan actually, that was a positive comment that seemed to go haywire…think others felt the same way! Seemed to be a trend…not an isolated incident. maybe some don’t have the writing skills of others, but we are not in right field taking a sieta!
It seems that many of the “serious” questions are being asked in the Social category. The enquirers don’t want the answers restricted.
I don’t ask many questions, but those I do aren’t going into the General category. I used to answer any question I felt competent to comment on, now I’m much more reluctant to answer General questions, even when I do answer them I immediately push the “stop following” button to avoid being pulled into off-topic discussions. I also won’t attempt humor or sarcasm, even in conjunction with a straight answer; probably a good thing since my sense of humor is usually misunderstood.
At first I wondered why there are so few new questions.
I’m thrilled! Gosh, when I came here the first time, a year ago, it was so tight and humorless. I so glad that’s eased up or I wouldn’t have stayed when I jumped in again (for a second) in October.
