What is your version of a female/male Unicorn?

Asked by Pandora (32436points) May 9th, 2010

My daughters’ gay friend calls her a female Unicorn because she is pretty, intelligent, computer geek and loves anime, gaming and she is really witty. She gets lots of guys interested in her who share her love for computers, games and anime. She is a very social person so even when she finds a guy who is the same, she isn’t interested because they are usually shy except when with her.
Any how, her friend says she is a geeks unicorn because to geeky guys she is a mythical creature.
Guys, what kind of girl would be your Unicorn?
Ladies, what kind of guy would be your Unicorn?
I take it for granted that most want pretty or handsome. I’m asking primarily about personalities you think rare, or interests or both.
(Btw, no offense to geeks. I don’t think being a geek is a bad thing. I’ve been called a geek myself. I think it only describes certain interests, not necessarily who you are.)

How about someone who is genuinely smart, cool, and empathetic (and you already said good looking). But here’s the rarity. Non-egotistical. Haha.

@RedPowerLady So would it be someone who is really humble or without confidence? Wouldn’t confidence require a little ego. You have to feel you have something of value to have a little ego. Or do you simply mean someone who is naive about themselves?

@Pandora Great question. I suppose it would be someone who just accepts themselves as they are but doesn’t feel as if they are “the most super fantastic best looking awesome catch” in the world. Something more along the lines of “ya okay maybe I’m great but uh who cares there are more important things in life to focus on”. Where does that fit?

@RedPowerLady , that would fit under humble.

@Pandora That makes sense. Humbleness is a characteristic I value. Just couldn’t quite place it there.

Yes to me, my Unicorn was a guy who would really tell me what he thought and could dance well and respected women as equals. Not tell me what he thought, I wanted to hear or talk down to me. I married my Unicorn.

Haha.. I love this idea. It does feel like I’m searching for a mythical creature sometimes. Someone at least as smart as me, funny, witty, passionate, caring, trustworthy, kind, compassionate, adventuresome, sweet, thoughtful, easy-going, geek/nerd tendencies, somewhat of a goofball, cute and hot, who likes nature, smoking pot, and me.

@MissAnthrope, That wouldn’t fit for @RedPowerLady, Humble is no where near all that. LOL
So your mythical creature is a mirror image of you. I like the goofball part. Most people would leave that one out. But I like goofballs. Oh, and sorry. I married your idea person. Well he’s everything but the smoking pot part and he’s into me. Sorry. And yes, he does have brothers, but they came from a different world. Planet lolly pop. Where everything sucks. ; D

Well its getting really late. I’ll check in tomorrow and see what else anyone has to say. I really like the answers so far. Good nite. :)

@Pandora – Ha, yeah.. as I was typing that out, I realized I was describing myself. It is true, in a sense, I would love to find someone like me. But not in any narcissistic sense, I assure you. I would never be interested in dating a clone of myself. My unicorn would be like me, but way awesomer. ;)

:) Gotcha. We all look for someone we feel we can relate too and who can relate to us. I guess in itself that is a Unicorn. Nite.
