Is it possible to download Movie Maker to a USB drive?

Asked by rentluva5256 (555points) May 10th, 2010

I’m working on a project and I need Movie Maker to do it. I have that program on my computer, but the school’s computer does not. I can’t work on it at home, so, I was wondering if there is a way I can save the program on my USB, bring it to school, and download it onto the computer. If there is a way, please explain. Thank you!

Yep. Download the software and instead of hitting run, save it to the desktop of your PC. Once complete, plug in your flash drive and open it up, the simply drag the folder across and drop onto your drive.

Just remember that you will have to install it in school every time you log off and log back on. And there may be some permissions problems with running an executable file on a school computer. I suggest you Google to see if there is a “Portable” version of Movie Maker. That’s what you really need.

Most Windows programs do not run from a flash drive. As @dpworkin writes, “Portable” apps are special versions designed for this, they do not need installing on the hard drive.
