Color printer help? For Apple Power PC G4

Asked by peggylou (1141points) March 13th, 2008

I just purchased a Brother laser printer to use for black and white copies. Now I need to purchase a color printer for photos, etc. My son has told me to get a 5 cartridge Canon color printer because photos will print better on an inkjet printer. I have researched Canon printers at Amazon, but I can’t tell if any of them have the 5 cartridges. Does anyone have a suggestion about which color printer to get and why? I am working on an Apple Power PC G4 so the printer needs to be compatible with Apple. I have been told that a laser printer will not print glossy photos—only matte. Is this still true?

peggylou, always listen to your son….my mom agrees with me

I recommend any photo printer that has Dye-sublimation thermal print method with protective overcoating. The Canon SELPHY line has some good ones. You would be hard pressed to find a printer out there that is not mac (or apple) compatible these says as long as you are running 10.2 or higher. HTH!
