I think it’s always been that way. Sometimes I do it, mostly I use it to indicate which answers I think are superior.

It doesn’t bother me. Eventually the high five only counts for so much anyway.

It doesn’t bother me. I think it has always been that way to a large extent. I don’t do it, though. I only give a GA if I think an answer is truly great. (Or because someone is, like, 10 lurve from a landmark and I want to push them over.) It makes me a total lurve grinch, but I can be pretty sure that when I give someone lurve for a good answer, they’ll actually get something added to their total lurve. And I like that.

Huh? I guess I don’t get it. I give GA to what I think are GA. Sometimes that means intelligent witty answers, sometimes that means funny snarky answers, sometimes it simply means someone said something nice about me, haha.

So what would a high five be?

high five @EmpressPixie :p

Ok I can’t just leave that up without answering the question, sorry. I find myself using it more and more as a sign of agreeing with someone, instead of truly appreciating the answer. It’s just not that big of a deal anymore, it’s just points that don’t mean anything (spoken like a sore loser).

Having said that, I really do wanted to GA @EmpressPixie for her comment that being a lurve grinch means giving someone a GA when it does count means they get the 5 points for it (as opposed to max out on everyone). Not only because I like the positive attitude, but also because I often wish I wasn’t maxed out on some people when I GA a truly great answer.

I used to be bothered by this. Now though I’ve come to a point where I don’t really are why people give or don’t give lurve. In the long run whether they do or don’t does not influence how I respond in a post.

So for now it doesn’t bother me.

Doesn’t bother me at all. I use it this way, but the answer also has to be good.

However, the one thing that does bother me is when posts that contain insults are GA’d. Those should be removed, not praised. No matter how “unpopular” the person or the person’s opinions are.

That’s probably why there is the 100 point cap per user to other users that I just learned about, lol. I’m sure agreeing with what another person says is a major factor in your subconscious determination that it is a GA. You probably wouldn’t often think an answer that you do NOT agree with is that great.

I do it – every answer contributes to the overall success of Fluther, and deserves recognition. After a short time they don’t count, anyway, so why not.

Meh, I see it as the fuck yeah! button so I already live in my own little world.

CMaz's avatar

I think it should be a, “pull my finger” button.

It can, if you believe it can. ’‘Bows.’’

It should be a smack on the ass and pat on the head button ;)
