My mum is coming to visit, what should I cook?
She is coming over a week on Sunday. I want to do finger food, maybe a little Italian, something interesting.
Any ideas please?

Home made pizza is a good idea with other things such as chicken wings, and vegetable fingers. Depends how “fancy” you want to be.
But if you want to go Italian, I would probably do a risotto instead. Minimal effort, style, and good taste.
@Ame_Evil Thanks, I want to do a number of things, could do chicken wings, some salad and I would like a few other ideas if you have any?
If you did not want to make a big pizza, you can make smaller ones (like 4” diameter) with different toppings.
Stuffed mushrooms are also a good idea.
Personally I would just wow her with an awesome dessert, since that is my area of “expertise” :D. If she likes chocolate, I have the recipe for one of the best chocolate fondants ever.
You could do fried ravioli and provide marinara as the dipping sauce (or healthier is to not fry it, but then you need little plates and forks).
Put out some pepperoni, cheeses, and crackers (you might say biscuits since you use mum, not sure where you are) or bread.
I like @Ame_Evil of stuffed mushrooms.
Fried polenta, either cut like french fries (chips) or round disks (I am able to buy polenta in cylendar shape and I just cut it and fry it in a little oil, sometimes I put melted cheese on top, but you could add anything).
Marinated veggies.
@JLeslie Sounds good, thank you. You have both given me some great ideas.
@BoBo1946 Thank you, but I am wanting to do finger food, so we can all have a choice of lots of different things.
What about bruschetta? If you have trader Joe’s in your area, they have a fabulous roasted red pepper and artichoke tapenade. Slice a loaf of Italian bread. Spread with the tapenade and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. Place under the broiler until cheese melts and it is heated through.
@marinelife Bruschetta is a great idea, if I don’t eat it first!
@BoBo1946 Yes you are very welcome to come round.
One of my favorite “finger foods” is french bread rounds topped with tomato, fresh mozzarella, garlic, and basil.
Slice a loaf of french bread into thin rounds and toast them in the oven until they are just crisp. Then, peel a clove of garlic and lightly rub it over the toasted bread rounds. Slice fresh mozzarella (it comes in various ball-shaped sizes, and the medium size works well for this), and place one slice onto each piece of bread. Next, top the cheese with one tomato slice (plum tomatoes are the perfect size). All of this can be done in advance, then put into the fridge until just before you serve it. At the last minute, stack a few basil leaves together, roll them up, and chop them once. Sprinkle it over the bread rounds. So yummy!
Another easy thing to make is an antipasto platter. Spread some mixed greens onto a big platter, then arrange Italian meats like soppressata, pepperoni, and prosciutto over the top. Add some sliced cheeses, like fresh mozzarella, aged parmesan, and provolone. Other foods to add to the platter would be marinated mushrooms, good olives, and roasted red peppers. To roast a red pepper, cut it in half and remove the seeds. Lightly brush both sides with olive oil, put it on a baking sheet, and roast it in the oven at 450 (turning every few minutes) until the pepper skin begins to blacken. Remove from the oven, and put the peppers into a paper bag or a covered dish. Let them sit until cool enough to handle, and the skin will just peel off. Slice the peppers into strips. So delicious, with the meats and cheeses!
You should make some Italian, Spanish and Mexican food:D Sooo dilicious
We love to make the italian version of dogs in a blanket – use Italian sausages, poke a hole in a long italian roll and stuff the cooked sausage inside
