Tilt your head to the side with your bad eye down and have someone pour water to flood your bad eye. Your bad eye is down so that whatever is in it is not inadvertently washed into the good eye. Flood your eye for a few minutes to see if you can wash out what’s in there.

If that doesn’t work, you probably want to see a doctor before you scratch your cornea.

does it matter the temp of the water?

you don’t want it too cold, but room temp should be fine (no hotter).

Can also try irrigating with eyewash solution. Going swimming in the ocean if that is an option. Running water from the faucet, cupping your hand near it so the water pools, and putting your eye in the pool of water and opening it.

If none of these work, you can go see a doc and they will flip your eye lid and remove it quickly and painlessly.

The thing that works best for me is to fill the bathroom sink with water, pull your eyelid up and put your face into the water.

Any luck?

If it has been a couple of days and the “thing” hasn’t moved around, chances are what you are feeling is a scratch on the eye, rather than an object in your eye.

You can rinse the eye out with dilute salt water (will sting a lot less than plain tap water). If the pain persists in the same location after that, you probably have a scratch that leaving alone and not rubbing at the eye will heal in a couple of days.

Using gel artificial tears for a couple of days will offer some pain relief.
