What was the Congo like before colonization?

Before the belgian colonizsation and other colonizations, what was the congo like. What type of recources did they have, cultures?

Other than an undeveloped jungle, it was part of the Arab slave trade network for about 700 years. The infrastructure of blacks selling blacks was so well developed in the Congo, that the Europeans simply took it over and continued it after the Arabs left.

@mammal but it is true. Truth isn’t always pretty.

The climate was probably much like the Amazon has been up to very recently. Congo also has phenomenal mineral resources. Some was known was known to early cultures, especially the gold. Fine goldwork was an important part of Ashanti culture.

@mammal I don’t think he’s attempting to justify anything. Whats the matter, you mind can’t handle the FACT that people other than white people have committed evil in the past? Shocking, I know.
