Is there a way to get rid of dead pixels?

Asked by Jay170590 (335points) May 20th, 2010 from iPhone

I have an LCD tv and I’ve noticed a blue dot on it. It’s only noticeable when there is a black background. Is there any way to fix it?

Good tutorials here:http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Stuck-Pixel-on-an-LCD-Monitor

Basically two options:
1. Try triggering the pixel back and forth quickly
2. Try smooshing the pixel

Nope.
Different manufacturers permit different numbers of stuck or dead pixels It is part of the manufacturing process. If they rejected all the screens that had even one bad pixel the costs would be prohibitive. You got that one at a reasonable price because it had a few bad pixels. Sadly the rule “You get what you pay for” holds true.

If you check your warrantee you will see wording to the effect “dead/stuck pixels are inherent in the manufacturing process and do not affect the viewing experience.” Maybe not theirs but it sure is annoying if it is your experience.

The only recourse you have is to remember where it was made and never buy from that location again.

Dead pixels are a no, but it might be a stuck pixel. Could leave this running for a bit. Just move it over the area where the possibly stuck pixel is and leave it for a while. It’s the exact same as a program you could download, but no chance of viruses. I downloaded 3 programs that did the same thing but they had viruses.

Blue, green or red dots indicate a stuck pixel. A black dot is a dead pixel, as it indicates a non functioning diode. Easiest way to fix a stuck pixel is to take a pencil with a rubber eraser on it, wrap a tissue over the eraser, place it firmly over the stuck pixel and press down slightly while the TV is on; turn it off while still pressing, then turn it back on again. Stuck pixel should be gone, but they can often come back.
